The Dubuque City Council on Monday approved the plans, specifications and estimated cost of $1,617,162.80 for the Auburn‑Custer utility and roadway reconstruction project, which covers sanitary sewer, water main, storm sewer, drain tile installation and repaving.
Assistant City Attorney Jason Lehman read the City Manager's memo summarizing City Engineer Gus Sahoyas’s recommendation. The project provides for removal and replacement of approximately 1,480 linear feet of 6‑inch vitrified clay sanitary sewer, about 1,000 linear feet of various sized water main, roughly 360 linear feet of storm sewer and installation of about 1,800 feet of drain tile. The project runs along Auburn and Custer Streets between University and Loras in the North Grandview and Atlantic area and is located in consent‑decree Sewer Shed 11.
No members of the public spoke during the hearing. Council Member Farber abstained from the vote because she owns property that could be affected; the remaining members approved the resolution by a 6‑yeas, 1‑abstention vote.
The council instructed staff to proceed with bidding and contract award consistent with the approved plans.
