The Village Board approved a resolution of necessity to begin the eminent domain process for a vacant lot at 550 Hartbrook Drive.
Village staff explained this step starts the acquisition procedure: the village will obtain an appraisal, provide it to Waukesha State Bank, and pay for a bank-requested appraisal; if the bank rejects the village offer, the village may deposit funds and pursue the matter through court. The village attorney’s office prepared the draft resolution, and staff identified Von Briesen as the drafting law firm.
A representative from Waukesha State Bank attended but did not comment during the hearing. Board members moved and seconded the resolution and carried it on a voice vote. Village staff said further costs will accrue for appraisals and any legal proceedings as the process proceeds.
