Millersville Borough Council voted to authorize borough staff to submit an application to the Lancaster County Conservation District’s Low Volume Road Program for improvements on a lower section of Creek Drive.
Borough Manager Rebecca said the project would narrow the bottom section of Creek Drive to reduce stormwater runoff and sediment entering the adjacent creek and to address safety and parking concerns. "So it would be a project that, we're hoping to receive this grant funding for," Rebecca said. She added the borough has executed a license agreement with Millersville University and included a map and full grant materials in the meeting backup.
Councilmember moved and a colleague seconded the motion to apply; the motion carried on voice vote. Rebecca said borough staff worked closely with Conservation District staff and believe the application is a strong candidate.
The program offers an expedited funding opportunity for small-scale road segments classified as low-volume; if awarded, the grant would support design and construction measures aimed at improved stormwater and sediment control. Council did not amend the application at the meeting and directed staff to proceed with the submission.
