City engineering presented an update Aug. 26 on the Safe Streets for All action plan funded through a Federal Highway Administration grant and planned public engagement to prioritize safety projects across Fountain.
Engineering presenter Abba Dravetti told council Fountain received “about 235,000 with 20% local match, from Federal Highway Administration,” and that the city hired Wilson & Company in April 2025 to develop the safety action plan. The plan is intended to be the basis for later implementation grants to address unsafe intersections and roadway projects, Dravetti said.
Dravetti outlined public engagement tools: an in‑person open house held in July, and a virtual online open house available through Sept. 12 via the city’s project page (fountain.colorado.gov under Hot Topics). He said the project website includes an interactive comment map and survey; attendees can drop a pin and submit feedback. “Right now we have about 9 contributions,” he said, and encouraged more participation.
Staff listed next steps as crash‑pattern analysis, project prioritization using a high‑injury network, and a project timeline that targets completion of the action plan by April 2026. Dravetti said additional public meetings will likely occur in November and will be posted on the city website and social media.
Council members and staff urged residents to submit locations of problem intersections or streets via the project site so those locations are included in the prioritization process.
