The City of Newark Finance Committee on Sept. 2 certified the amounts and rates determined by the budget commission for tax levies, reported current fund balances and approved several small appropriations. The committee voted unanimously on the measures.

At the Sept. 2 meeting, the committee reported an unappropriated general fund balance of $244,169 and a budget stabilization fund balance of $558,848. Committee members then considered a resolution "accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the budget commission and authorizing the necessary tax levies and certifying them to the county auditor," which passed by voice vote 5-0 after a motion by Barker and a second by Hauser.

The committee also approved an appropriation of $573.40 related to closing out an expense balance from FY24 (the transcript references a FY24 total of $978,045 in the same discussion); that item passed on a 5-0 voice vote following a motion by Halter and a second by Barker.

None of the votes recorded a roll-call breakdown in the meeting transcript; the minutes show unanimous committee approval with five members present: Council members Parker, Cost, Chute, Hauser and Marmee.
