During the call to the public, James Allen Jr., a San Luis resident, announced his intention to run for mayor in next year’s election.
Allen, who identified his address as 1549 East Babbit Lane, said he planned to run "for the citizens that are here, the people that are the fiber of this city" and asked for direction and support from those present. "If you want me to be your mayor, step up, and I'll utilize any help you can give me," he said.
The comment was part of the public‑comment portion of the meeting; no formal council action followed.
