The San Luis City Council approved the purchase of a fully marked 2026 Ford F-250 for the police department's animal control unit, city staff said.
Lieutenant Damian Miller told the council the vehicle will replace an existing unit with more than 100,000 miles and is budgeted in the FY2025–26 capital projects. The vehicle bid from Peoria Ford under Arizona state contract CTR059322 was $52,220.16 including tax; outfitting by Arizona Emergency Products under a City of Chandler contract (PD5-005-4859) reduced equipment costs. Miller said the vehicle and equipment line items total approximately $99,294.39; the motion approved a purchase not to exceed the department's budgeted amount of $107,360.
Councilmember Esteban Rosales moved to approve the purchase; the motion passed on a voice vote with no recorded opposition.
Staff said the vehicle will be assigned to animal control and will be fully equipped and marked before service.
