The San Luis City Council approved the purchase of one fully marked and equipped 2026 Ford F-250 for the Police Department’s animal control service, using funds budgeted in the fiscal year 2025–26 capital improvement plan.

Lt. Damian Miller presented the item and said the new vehicle will replace an aging unit with more than 100,000 miles that is frequently out of service. The city will buy the vehicle from Peoria Ford under Arizona state contract CTR059322; the dealership bid for the vehicle was $52,220.16 including tax, Miller said. Upfitting will be performed by Arizona Emergency Products using the City of Chandler contract PD5-005-4859; Miller said vehicle and equipment totals described in staff materials amounted to approximately $99,294.39 for vehicle plus equipment and that the city’s budgeted not-to-exceed amount for the purchase was $107,360.

Council member Esteban Rosales moved to approve the purchase in an amount not to exceed the budgeted $107,360; the motion was seconded and passed on a voice vote. The purchase authorization covers the vehicle acquisition and upfitting as presented; staff will return with purchase documents and contract execution details, the item summary said.
