County staff presented updated designs and a multi-phase schedule for a new public safety building, saying the two-story primary building will be about 50,000 square feet with a roughly 5,000-square-foot auxiliary building for large vehicles. Staff said design development is complete and the project has moved into the construction documents phase.
According to the presentation, construction documents and final specifications are expected to be complete by December 2025, with the county's building official to review the documents before the project goes to bid. Staff said the county anticipates the bidding process to start around February 2026, with contract awards possible in March or April 2026 and site earthwork beginning in April or May 2026. The county estimated an 18- to 24-month construction period once work is underway.
The project team circulated exterior elevation renderings and floor plans to supervisors during the meeting and described room allocations and auxiliary storage for boats and larger vehicles. County staff emphasized the project is intended to consolidate public-safety operations into modern facilities.
The update included no formal board action at this meeting; staff said they will return with construction documents for review and with a contract to award once bidding and code review are complete.
