The Iowa City Community School District held public hearings Aug. 26 on three capital projects — theater lighting at City High School, soccer field lighting at Liberty High School and a west-end regrade at West High School — and confirmed public bid dates and the district’s notice schedule.
Vice President Abraham opened and then closed each hearing after noting that notices had been published in the Iowa City Press-Citizen on Aug. 13 and on the district website. For the City High theater lighting project, the board said the district will receive bids at 10 a.m. on Sept. 11, 2025, at the Facilities Management Conference Center, 1137 South Riverside Drive, Iowa City. For the Liberty High School soccer field lighting project, the district will receive bids at 2 p.m. on Aug. 28, 2025, at the same conference center. For the West High west-end regrade project, bids will be received at 2 p.m. on Sept. 11, 2025, at the Facilities Management Conference Center.
The notices for all three projects were described to the board as published “as required by law” in statewide plan rooms and on the district website.
No members of the public asked questions during the hearings, and the board closed each hearing after the notices and bid deadlines were stated.
Ending: The hearings complete the statutorily required publication and public-notice steps for moving these projects to the bidding phase; the board did not take further action at the Aug. 26 meeting.
