Henry County magistrates completed a second reading Tuesday to affirm the county’s property tax rate change adopted at the prior meeting.
The court had previously voted to lower the rate from 10.3 to 10.1 (as read in the meeting record). During discussion, a magistrate said the change reduces the rate and clarified confusion from the prior meeting. The court moved to keep the rate at 10.1 and the motion carried on the second reading.
Magistrates said the personal property and other categories (boats, etc.) would remain at 11.9; a magistrate who previously misheard the proposal confirmed the clarification on the record. No further action was required beyond the second reading.
