PAB members were told at the meeting that Maryland State Police requested a room and civilian trial board member participation for two trial boards in October and that members of the public may observe.
A PAB member said the first trial board is scheduled for Oct. 7 in the county building and is expected to start at 8 a.m.; the second hearing was scheduled for Oct. 20 and is planned to be held online. "If anybody has an interest in attending a trial board to see what a trial board is like, maybe to be able to tell others, tell your constituents, tell your officers, or whatever ... this might be a good opportunity," the PAB member said.
Why it matters: PAB members said attending a trial board can help civilian board members understand the process and relay that knowledge to the public, law enforcement and other stakeholders. The PAB also said trial boards are open to the public from what participants understood.
Ending: PAB staff said they would share details about joining the online hearing and the in-person timetable with interested members.
