Mason County Public Health and Human Services on Sept. 2 announced openings on the Mason County Board of Health and invited applicants to apply for several categories, including a position reserved for a member of the Skokomish Tribe.
David (Dave) Windham, with Mason County Public Health and Human Services, told commissioners the board is recruiting two representatives who are "consumers of public health" — defined as county residents who have self-identified as having faced significant health inequities or lived experience with public-health programs such as the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), supplemental home visiting or treatment services. Windham said individuals from historically marginalized or underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
"Board of Health has a position open and reserved for a member of the Skokomish Tribe," Windham said. He also said the board is seeking one representative of "other community stakeholders," describing that category to include persons representing community-based nonprofits that work with populations experiencing health inequities, active or retired armed forces members, business community members or entities from the environmental public health regulated community.
Windham provided county contact information for applicants and an online application form reference on the record. For questions, he listed an email, dwindom@masoncountywa.gov, and a county phone contact (as given in the meeting). The announcement starts the recruitment process; no appointments were made at the meeting.
