Carrollton Farmers Branch ISD staff reported Sept. 4 that the district's counseling department is fully staffed and has expanded services to support student mental health and educator wellness.
Miss Naros, counseling department lead, told the board the department provides layered supports including bilingual counselors in every feeder pattern, crisis counselors, a licensed chemical dependency counselor, community site coordinators and a Counseling Connection Center (CCC) that offers free confidential counseling for students and families outside the school day. "Our counseling department is fully staffed this year," she said. "We have bilingual counselors serving in every feeder pattern, crisis counselors...and the Counseling Connection Center, which provides free confidential counseling for students and families outside of the school day."
Naros said counselors are conducting classroom guidance lessons on resilience and coping skills and are doing targeted check‑ins for students affected by transitions such as consolidation or program changes. She described planned expansions including bilingual family workshops, weekend counseling options and a pilot initiative on educator wellness in partnership with the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute and the Metrocrest Hospital Authority.
Board members praised the work and asked for follow‑up as the educator wellness pilot is developed. No formal board action was taken; administrators said they will return with future progress updates and details on the pilot program.
