Miss Nedovitz, a district library media staff member, told trustees on Sept. 4 that the district will renew its library vendor RFP for another year and that, under Senate Bill 13, book acquisition lists must be posted publicly for 30 days before purchases. She said the district has already posted the list on the Library Media Services page and will send trustees the book list by the next day or Monday to allow review before the consent agenda vote. "It will be next month on the consent agenda," Miss Nedovitz said, adding that the list is divided by age levels to make review easier. Trustees asked about parental involvement and how parents can submit concerns. Carolyn Benavides asked whether parents can collaborate with the district about titles; Miss Nedovitz said the 30-day posting includes a form for parents to submit comments or concerns. She explained that parents can also create a guardian account in the library system to block a specific book for their child; that step "does require action on the parents' part to log in and create that." Trustees discussed outreach; Miss Nedovitz said the district will send a ParentSquare notification and other communications to ensure parents see the posting. The board did not take separate action on the posting at this meeting; the RFP renewal was part of the consent agenda approved by the board.
