During public comment at the Suwannee County commission meeting on Sept. 2, Chanel Harris, who identified herself as part of Sincere Women’s Wellness, announced the organization will operate a mobile women’s health unit that will prioritize Suwannee County residents beginning in November. Harris said the unit will provide primary care services, prenatal and postnatal care (but no deliveries), behavioral health referrals, health education, nutrition education and lactation consultation.
Harris said the mobile unit will initially be at the county health department three days a week and later transition to an on-site base as the organization completes preconstruction. She said the unit will serve Suwannee County three days a week, with two additional days focused on Lafayette and Hamilton counties and planned weekend availability as the program grows. "We're prioritizing the counties that have limited to no access to prenatal health care services," Harris said, and added the group hopes by the first quarter of next year to accept limited community event requests.
This was an informational announcement; no board action was requested or taken at the meeting.
