The McLeod County Board approved a tentative request for Veterans Service Officer Grant Christiansen to travel to Annapolis, Maryland, in September 2025 to attend the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) National Veterans Service accredited representative skill-level training, contingent on a scholarship.

County staff said the veteran services office applied for a scholarship that, if awarded, would cover travel, lodging, conference fees and per diem; the only county cost would be Christiansen's hourly wage. Staff added that if the scholarship is not awarded, the officer will not attend.

Commissioner Krueger moved approval; Commissioner Chaska seconded. The board approved the tentative travel request by voice vote.
