McLeod County commissioners voted to concur with a joint powers agreement that adds a 2.5-block stretch of County Road 2 (from Grove to Century Lane) to the City of Silver Lake’s infrastructure project.

County staff said McLeod County’s estimated responsibility for the work is about $334,000, to be paid from local option sales tax funds in the county’s construction budget. The City of Silver Lake’s share is approximately $1,545,000, of which about $1,065,000 is covered by the city’s grant funds. The joint agreement was originally approved by the county in May 2025; commissioners expressed support for moving forward and approved the concurrence by voice vote.

Commissioners said the arrangement leverages grant funding and noted the county previously discussed the value of entering the agreement.
