The District 207 board approved an intergovernmental agreement April 7 with the City of Des Plaines to formally provide a school resource officer (SRO) at Main West High School.
District staff said they worked with Des Plaines police leadership and the district’s attorney to draft the agreement, using a previously negotiated Park Ridge agreement as a model while tailoring terms to the two jurisdictions. Administration said the new agreement replaces a shorter, informal arrangement the district had operated under for decades and reflects extensive feedback from building leaders and police.
Board members and administrators said they were satisfied with the collaboration and the resulting draft; the district emphasized the agreement is intended to continue and clarify the long‑standing relationship and to improve coordination on safety. The district attorney and police representation will be inserted as the final names in the agreement during personnel updates, staff said.
The board approved the agreement with no recorded objections and directed administration to finalize the document and continue implementation coordination with Des Plaines Police Department.
