Board takes first reading on textbook adoptions for culinary and English courses

Lincoln Way administrators presented a first reading of proposed textbook adoptions on April 17 that included the ServSafe eighth edition for culinary careers, Culinary Arts: Principles and Applications, and English II Honors materials. Staff said teachers and department chairs participated in the selection process and that the district will follow public‑display requirements before bringing the adoptions back to the board for approval at a subsequent meeting. Administrators said the textbook‑adoption cycle helps keep materials current and that recent cycles have reduced a previously significant backlog of textbook updates. "We'll follow all the rules, these will be on display, and we'll bring them back for approval in the next meeting," a district presenter said. The board completed the first reading with no objection and expects final action at a subsequent meeting.
