The Arkansas Supreme Court on Dec. 12, 2024 appointed several judges, clerks and public officials to the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Automation and to the Commission on Children, Youth, and Families, and reappointed existing members, the court’s published proceedings show.
Appointments to the Committee on Automation include Circuit Judge-Elect John Thomas Shepherd (Thirteenth Judicial Circuit), District Court Judge Lance Wright (Heber Springs), Circuit Judge-Elect Melanie Martin (Little Rock), Representative Matt Brown (Conway), Robbi Riggs (Deputy General Counsel, Office of the Arkansas Attorney General, Little Rock), Prosecuting Attorney Ben Hale (Eighth North Judicial District, Prescott), Washington County Circuit Clerk Kyle Sylvester (Fayetteville), Faulkner County Circuit Clerk Nancy Eastham (Conway), and Andy Taylor, Esq. (Little Rock). These appointees were named for three-year terms to expire Dec. 31, 2027. The court also reappointed Circuit Judge Shannon Blatt, District Court Judge Jessica Steele Gunter, and Chief District Court Clerk Grace Gault for three-year terms through Dec. 31, 2027.
The court expressed appreciation to outgoing committee members whose terms expired, listing Circuit Judge Christopher Morledge; Circuit Judge Rob Wyatt; District Court Judge Ann Hudson; District Court Judge Sarah Capp; Representative Robin Lundstrum; Prosecuting Attorney David Ethredge; Crawford County Circuit Clerk Sharon Blount-Baker; Candace Edwards; and Rashauna Norment, Esq.
For the Arkansas Supreme Court Commission on Children, Youth, and Families, the court appointed Representative Zach Gramlich (Fort Smith), Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Casey Beard (Little Rock), Garland County Juvenile Officer Lavon Chatman (Hot Springs), and Tressa Hamilton (Therapeutic Foster Care Program Manager, Community Service, Inc., Little Rock) to three-year terms ending Dec. 31, 2027. The court reappointed Circuit Judge Kimberly Boling Bibb for a three-year term through Dec. 31, 2027, and thanked outgoing members Representative Jamie Scott; Saline County Juvenile Officer Carol Childs; Mason Reynolds, Esq.; and Lekita Thomas for their service.
Why it matters: these appointments fill leadership and advisory roles for statewide automation of court systems and for the court’s advisory work on children, youth and family issues. Terms and membership changes can affect the committees’ priorities over the coming three years.
Parties or organizations named in the appointments should consult the court’s official notices for contact details and any committee agendas or decisions that follow.
