Ward County approves four outlot plats for rural residential use across townships

On June 3 the Ward County Commission approved four outlot plats for rural residential use after Planning Administrator Beth Pietsch presented each application and staff findings. The applicants were Kevin Folkers (Kenmare Township), Connor Harvey (Torning Township), Laura Wolseth (Margaret Township) and Brian Niess (Willis Township). Each township recommended approval and county staff made findings of fact supporting the plats. The commission’s motions to approve were made separately and passed unanimously: - Kevin Folkers — proposed outlot 2 from the NWNE of Section 25-160-88 (Kenmare Township). - Connor Harvey — proposed outlot 1 from the SESE of Section 3-153-84 (Torning Township) for future rural residential use. - Laura Wolseth — proposed outlot 4 from the SW of Section 3-157-81 (Margaret Township); applicant intends to sell part after moving into town. - Brian Niess — proposed outlot 4 from the E1/2SE of Section 3-153-82 (Willis Township); note recorded that a previously approved subdivision plat was never recorded because an access road was not completed and must be redone if subdividing further. Each approval was made “based on findings of fact and staff recommendations.” The motions were moved and seconded by members of the commission and recorded as passing with Commissioners Rostad, Merritt (by phone), Olson, Schuler and Chairman Fjeldahl voting yes on each item. The approvals allow the applicants to create individual outlots under Ward County zoning consistent with township recommendations.
