At the June 18 meeting, Outreach and Education Officer Harvey reported steady increases in training participation and stronger social media engagement for the Nevada Commission on Ethics. Harvey said recent training evaluations show more than 90% of participants reported substantially improved understanding of the ethics law and approximately 98% reported increased confidence in accessing resources after training.
Harvey summarized outreach efforts including recent contracting‑focused LinkedIn articles, plans to fold prior social posts into the agency website, and upcoming campaign and endorsement guidance for the election season. The office has distributed three quarterly newsletters and plans a July mailing; the April newsletter reached about 1,600 public officers and employees, Harvey said.
Harvey also reported the office had processed 45 public records requests and about 101 information requests for the fiscal year at the time of the report; in about 64% of public records requests the office provided responsive records, and in about 84% of information requests staff were able to provide substantive answers. Harvey said staff will start quarterly team quality‑improvement meetings to review resources, identify gaps and develop additional guidance based on recent cases and public inquiries.
Commissioners praised the social media trivia and outreach work and suggested sending more materials to municipal and county public information officers to broaden reach. Harvey and commissioners noted successful recent trainings, including an Association of Governmental Accountants presentation the week prior.
