Planning commission continues proposed zoning regulation amendments to August to allow clarifications
Summary
The commission voted 6-0 to continue proposed amendments to Sections 5.01–5.14 and 5.17 (deleting 5.15–5.16 and adding overlay districts for RV/marina and airport) to the August 7 meeting for further revisions and coordination.
The Washington County Planning Commission voted Thursday to continue consideration of proposed revisions to the county zoning regulations to its August 7 meeting so staff can clarify language and coordinate related sections. The proposed changes would amend Sections 5.01 through 5.14 and 5.17, delete Sections 5.15 and 5.16, and add new sections establishing a Recreational Vehicle Park/Marina Overlay District and an Airport Overlay District. Planning & Zoning Administrator Shewchuk presented the proposal and told commissioners he believed additional clarification was needed before the commission should act. No substantive public testimony was recorded during the hearing. Commissioner Lambrecht moved and Commissioner Mathiesen seconded to continue the matter to the August 7, 2025 Planning Commission meeting; the motion carried 6-0 with Commissioner Hoegermeyer absent. The commission’s continuation will allow staff to revise draft language and coordinate the proposed overlay districts with other zoning provisions before a future public hearing and recommendation to the Board of Supervisors.
