County officials said on Aug. 5 they plan to present life‑saving recognition to two county employees, Tim and Ethan, who responded to a July 17 crash in which a passenger vehicle struck a gravel truck, caught fire and trapped occupants.
According to staff, Tim and Ethan were nearby when the crash occurred; they and the semi‑truck driver pulled a woman and her child from the burning vehicle. Staff said the vehicle caught fire and that both county employees helped control the situation. Ethan also helped secure dogs at the scene and later purchased a fire extinguisher to ensure that similarly outfitted vehicles would have extinguishers on board.
County staff prepared life‑saving and appreciation awards for presentation; the county asked commissioners to remain for a brief presentation at 10:00 a.m. on the day of the meeting. Staff also said a truck driver, Marty Paulson (named by staff), had been nominated for a state-level award related to the same rescue.
