Board makes Nov. 4, 2025 an instructional holiday to support elections

Superintendent Dr. Barber asked the board to approve a calendar change making Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, a district holiday and the board approved the recommendation by voice vote, 7‑0.
Dr. Barber said that because schools are closed on Election Day under the current calendar, designating Nov. 4 a district holiday helps the community and election workers by reducing parking and facility conflicts when voters use school buildings. ‘‘Since our staff isn't here and our students aren't here, it just kinda makes sense to make it a little more friendly for the people that are visiting our facilities,’’ Dr. Barber said.
The motion was approved without amendment. The board will implement the calendar change for the 2025–2026 academic year.
