The Stark County Commission approved Thursday the release of $67,340 to the Gladstone Fire Department to complete the county’s earlier pledge for a new fire truck.

County staff presented minutes and prior correspondence indicating the commission had previously pledged up to $83,040 toward the truck. Subsequent additional funding sources reduced the county’s final share to $67,340; commissioners voted unanimously to release the funds so the department may finalize procurement.

Commissioners said the appropriation aligns with earlier board direction and noted the expenditure supports rural fire capacity. The action was taken by roll‑call vote; no further conditions were attached to the payment.
