Dunn County commissioners awarded the 3T Avenue Southwest construction contract to Wind Construction after a public bid opening and approved a set of contractor pay estimates for ongoing county projects.
At 10:00 a.m. staff opened bids for the 3T Avenue project. Wind Construction submitted the low bid at $1,580,584.97; Wagner Construction and Knife River submitted higher bids. Jeremy, the county project engineer, recommended awarding the contract to Wind Construction. Commissioner Pelton moved to award the contract to Wind Construction for $1,580,584.97; Commissioner Clayman seconded and a roll call vote approved the award.
Separately, the board approved multiple pay estimates and progress payments recommended by county engineers. Those approvals included:
- Pay estimate No. 1 to Schwartz Construction for the 20 Seventh Street project in the amount of $267,517.78 (motion carried on roll call).
- Pay estimate No. 4 to Jensen Brothers in the amount of $986,017.34 for the 90 Seventh Avenue project (approved by roll call).
- Pay estimate No. 5 (as recommended by Highlands Engineering) to Edward H. Schwartz Construction for $77,353.02 for Fourteenth Street SW (approved by motion and roll call).
- A smaller pay estimate to Bronco Brothers for $18,249.74 (approved by roll call).
Engineers present updated the commissioners on the schedule and permitting for multiple projects: easement and utility agreement progress on Second Avenue and Twelfth Street projects, grading redesign near a cultural site on Sixteenth Street, and anticipated fall bid openings and late-summer construction starts for several projects. Several engineers cautioned that weather and permitting may alter the construction schedule.
The board directed county staff to finalize award documents and work with the low bidder on pre-construction scheduling and utility coordination.
