Dunn County Auditor Sally Whittingham asked the board to approve changes to precinct splits in preparation for a new statewide election software rollout. The auditor said redistricting and boundary changes have concentrated much of Dunn County into Legislative District 26 and that consolidating splits would reduce the number of ballot styles from 12 to five in a general election, simplifying voting logistics and lowering printing costs because ballots are ordered in bundles of 100.
The board voted to approve the proposed precinct splits as presented. The auditor said the consolidated splits will keep voters in the same districts and municipalities while reducing administrative complexity and cost. She added that the change should make it easier for election workers and voters and will reduce the number of unique ballot styles to order.
