Commission approves 15-acre residential lot split in Missouri Ridge Township

The Williams County Planning and Zoning Commission approved a minor subdivision to create a 15-acre lot for single-family residence from a roughly 160-acre parcel in Missouri Ridge Township.
Ed Rintemaki, surveyor with Interstate Engineering, explained the plat process and showed that the parent parcel would be divided into a 15.0-acre lot and a 146.25-acre lot. The township recommended approval.
Why it matters: the applicant is seeking a smaller residential parcel carved from a larger agricultural holding; the county’s review controls how parcels are rezoned and recorded.
Applicant Steven Jensen spoke at the hearing to clarify the parcel location; he indicated the 15-acre parcel would be used for a home site. County staff said the draft plat is under review and recordation of the plat will be contingent on county approvals. Commissioner Mark moved approval; the motion was seconded and passed on roll call.
