Biloxi council approves $450,000 port transfer for pier repairs and moves forward on trailer-parking expansion

Council action on the consent agenda included recognizing and unrestricting $450,000 in funds from Harrison County that had been held in a restricted debt-service account; the money will move into capital projects to fund port and pier maintenance and related repairs, and will be available as matching or local funding for larger pier-replacement grants. City staff reported the project account balance for port repairs at approximately $1,169,260.07 after the transfer.
Separately, councilmembers discussed a parking project at the Small Craft Harbor. Councilman Creel clarified the work will enlarge the existing 18 trailer parking spaces rather than create 18 additional stalls. He said the redesign will lengthen the stalls so trucks and trailers can be accommodated safely and that the paving work covers a larger area, with associated relocation of palm trees included in the contractor estimate.
Councilman Gray and others asked staff to confirm itemized bids and relocate landscaping as part of the paving schedule. The consent agenda was moved by Mr. Creel, seconded by Councilman Tisdale, and approved without exception.
