Lawrenceville Arts Commission schedules BooFest for Oct. 24, sets mural unveiling Aug. 19

Lawrenceville — The Lawrenceville Arts Commission used its Aug. 12 meeting to review recent events and finalize plans for upcoming community outreach. Commission Member Casey Spinks said the Evening of the Arts went well, the hand fans were popular, and that the commission partnered with the Stormwater department to paint rain barrels and register attendees for a drawing. Spinks said Arts Commission swag was handed out and commission members fielded questions from attendees. The commission set BooFest for Oct. 24, 2025, and members agreed planning can be finalized at the September meeting; the Community Engagement subcommittee will meet before that session to prepare. Commission members discussed attending Not Your Mother's ArtFest and considered adding a live-art element; Casey Spinks and Jasmine Billings will follow up on options. The commission scheduled the Magnolias mural unveiling for Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.; the unveiling is expected to last about 30 minutes. Billings said fans and stickers will be available to hand out, along with water and a tent, and that she will provide talking points for a brief member statement at the event. The commission also discussed ordering shirts and sweatshirts; Billings will provide prices and a link so members can select up to three color choices.
