Commissioners approve culvert purchase and contract for road ash disposal; staff to follow up on local road fixes

Commissioners authorized County Administrator Glenn Hull to purchase culvert pipes from Ferguson Waterworks for $17,614.50 after a motion by Commissioner Drew Jones and second from Commissioner Luke Gowen; the motion carried unanimously.
The board also approved an agreement allowing County Administrator Hull to execute a contract with Waste Management for road pavement ash disposal up to $50,000, with the funds coming from the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST). Commissioner Gowen asked about the process; Director of Infrastructure and Development Ronnie Pollock estimated removal "will take a couple of weeks" and said the ash "varies up to 10 inches." Commissioner Jones moved to approve the agreement pending an amendment to the price to exclude taxes; Commissioner James Everett seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
During public comments, resident Gordon Bollen raised an access concern where a missing dead-end road sign is allowing unwanted traffic onto his property; Director Pollock suggested putting gravel down on the worn portion of the road and County Administrator Hull said he would look into the matter. Resident Forrest Allen thanked the board for approving removal of road ash in front of his home.
No additional budget amendments were recorded; the Waste Management agreement was noted as TSPLOST-funded and the culvert purchase was authorized under routine purchasing procedures.
