The exchange continued as commissioners, Hull and Young discussed the county's current EMA operations, mutual aid agreements and disaster and hazard mitigation planning.
No motion or vote on the draft agreement was recorded at Thursday's meeting. County Administrator Hull framed the draft as not diminishing the county's current EMA position but as a way to enhance planning, support and mutual aid. Young's remarks underscored that the EMA director seeks a formal opportunity to review and comment on the draft before the board proceeds.
Commissioners did not take formal action and directed further review and discussion with staff and the EMA director before any execution of the proposed agreement.
