The Calhoun County ISD Board approved Lone Star Governance items July 21 after presentations from Superintendent Evan Cardwell and Instructional Support Coordinator Tiffany O’Donnell. The items included a review of the board’s time use tracker for June 16, 2025, and an overview of 2025 STAAR scores with strategies for improvement.
Cardwell reviewed the prior month’s time-tracker information, and O’Donnell presented the STAAR results, associated celebrations and strategies for moving forward. The minutes note district progress goals for 7th-grade math and 8th-grade English language arts as part of the discussion.
A motion by Lori Leal, seconded by Vinson Phillips, carried unanimously: trustees Alford, Dworaczyk, Leal, McAfee, Phillips, Robles and Shrader voted yes. The minutes record the total time spent on Student Outcomes in the prior meeting (82 minutes) and Lone Star Governance time (51 minutes or 62.20%).
The board recorded the review and approval of the Lone Star Governance items as informational and governance-tracking items; no additional policy action was recorded on the STAAR overview beyond acceptance of the presentation.
