District reports on McLarenard Road extension and Frost property improvements

District staff updated the board on two capital projects funded in part by a general obligation bond: the McLarenard Road extension near the junior high and potential improvements at the Frost properties. Staff said they recently met with city officials and may delay the McLarenard Road extension for several months to explore cost‑saving options, including possible coordination with a nearby developer. On the Frost properties, staff said they continue design work with A to Z Engineering and city officials to consider tennis court resurfacing, parking improvements and utility extensions. Staff said they expect to provide more information at the April board meeting. The district also described ongoing facility‑planning work tied to a prior demographic study, examining preschool space, programming for grades 4–6 and other operational efficiencies. Higher Achievement and Lancer and Associates have been consulted to provide input on space and programming options. No formal capital approvals or contract awards were made at Tuesday’s meeting; staff requested the board’s continued engagement and planned future updates.
