Bridge City Independent School District trustees accepted multiple donations and grant funds at their Aug. 20 meeting and received an information update from the Bridge City ISD Educational Foundation.
The board received an informational update on the foundation from Patty Collins, who reported on mini grants and an upcoming Golf Tournament Fundraiser set for Oct. 25. The minutes list the foundation update as an information item; no action was required.
Trustees approved donations and grants during the meeting. The minutes record the following donations and values: school supplies valued at $250 from Taylor Perkins (Edward Jones) and $350 from Karen Collier (Edward Jones); school supplies from Entergy/Kiewit Corp valued at $750 and from PCL Contractors valued at $1,500. The board approved donations to the Athletics Department from Tower Medical — snacks, storage, mirrors, rugs and medical supplies valued at $800 — and Career & Technical Education (CTE) equipment from G&G Enterprises: a bandsaw valued at $5,000 and a welding machine valued at $3,500. The district also received a $3,000 grant from the Stark Foundation to purchase clothing, toiletries and school supplies for students in need. All donations and the grant acceptance were approved by motion and recorded as carried unanimously.
These donations and the foundation’s fundraising plans were presented as support for student programs and CTE coursework; the minutes do not specify distribution timelines or which campuses will receive each donated item.
