The Bridge City Independent School District Board of Trustees on July 14 reviewed a set of local policy updates and approved the 2025–26 Parent and Family Engagement Policy.

President Rebecca Rutledge presented multiple policy items for board consideration. The minutes indicate first-reading policies affected by a recent legislative update included EFB(LOCAL) Instructional Resources—Library Materials; FD(LOCAL) Admissions; FM(LOCAL) Student Activities; and FNCE(LOCAL) Student Conduct—Personal Telecommunications/Electronic Devices. The minutes state these policies were drafted with assistance from TASB Policy Services and will return for a second reading at a subsequent meeting.

The board also approved a list of local policy revisions presented as a second reading that align with changes to the district’s District of Innovation (DOI) plan. Those codes include BDF(LOCAL), BQA(LOCAL), BQB(LOCAL), DBA(LOCAL), DEAA(LOCAL), DK(LOCAL), DMA(LOCAL), DNA(LOCAL), and EB(LOCAL), and FDA(LOCAL). These motions were moved by Trustee Michael Johnson and seconded by Trustee Jerry McInnis and carried unanimously.

Separately, the minutes show the board approved additional local policies as a second reading affected by Update 125: BDAA(LOCAL), BDB(LOCAL), EI(LOCAL), FDE(LOCAL), and FEC(LOCAL). The board recorded that these motions also carried unanimously.

Trustee Paul Zoch moved and Trustee Judy Cole seconded approval of the 2025–26 Parent and Family Engagement Policy; that motion carried unanimously.
