At the Sept. 9 meeting the board approved the personnel report, which listed several resignations, a disability leave and new hires. The board voted unanimously to accept the report.
Resignations recorded included Deborah Bowes (social-emotional mentor, Wheeler Elementary), Keisha Elam (four-hour cafeteria worker, Speedway High School) and Darren Dantzler (eighth-grade basketball coach at Speedway Junior High). Whitley Duman had submitted a disability leave that was due to end Sept. 15, the report said.
New employment and assignments approved included: Katie Martin as Speedway Junior High musical director; Alex McCool as head softball coach at Speedway High School; Darren Dantzler moving from junior-high coaching to a boys varsity basketball coaching position at the high school; Desmond Adanani and Deontay Means as assistant basketball coaches (each a half stipend); and Bailey Ross as a long-term substitute English teacher for eighth-grade language arts beginning Oct. 1. Trustees approved the personnel report 5–0.
