Dee Dee Self updated the Safety & Security Committee on required document uploads to the TEA Sentinel Document Repository at the July 28, 2025 meeting and highlighted several policy and protocol items.
Self noted recent and required uploads include the Emergency Operations Plan, district policies, medical and police training records, door sweep logs (IDA completed) and Behavioral Threat Assessment Team documentation. Self also raised traumatic injury protocol updates that reference Stop the Bleed kits and placement of opioid antagonists (Narcan) on campuses.
Chief Pat Leber reminded committee members that all committee members must complete Psychological First Aid (PFA) and specifically stated that the Eduhero course does not meet the committee’s PFA requirement. A free online PFA certification location was provided in the agenda materials (https://learn.nctsn.org/course/index.php?categoryid=11).
Under Training Updates, Leber reported the district conducted opioid antagonist and Stop the Bleed training on March 17, 2025. Staff received training on recognizing opioid overdose and administering Narcan; Narcan has been supplied to the district by ETCADA, though quantities and exact campus placement were not specified during the meeting. Annual Stop the Bleed training for the district was conducted by Hopkins County EMS; the committee discussed where Narcan should be stored on each campus but did not adopt a formal storage policy at the meeting.
The agenda item also noted first-responder walkthroughs and outside-agency collaborations involving drills. Committee members were asked to ensure required documents are current in the TEA repository and to complete assigned training. No formal vote was taken on storage locations or protocol language during the July 28 session.
