The Edmonson County Board of Education on March 10 authorized the superintendent to contact designated vendors about extending established contracts for the 2025-26 school year, provided contract terms do not exceed $20,000 annually and vendors agree to unchanged or only minor adjustments. The motion authorizes extensions without new bidding if a vendor consents to continue under the same terms and pricing or with only minor adjustments; if a vendor does not agree, the district will pursue bidding. Services and vendors specifically listed in the minutes for potential reauthorization include school grounds mowing (Elmore's Lawn Service), pest control (Commonwealth Pest Control), student drug testing and employee drug testing (Occupational Screening), fire safety (Pye Barker Services), boiler preventative maintenance (Alpha Energy Services), mop/mat/uniform service (CINTAS Services), propane gas (Farmer's Propane) and others. Separately, the board approved a list of approved small-source and single-source vendors for routine purchases and single-source items; the minutes list more than two dozen suppliers and vendors including Ace Hardware, Amazon, American Bus, Bee Spring Lumber, Bowling Green Winnelson, CINTAS, Grainger, Heritage Petroleum, O'Reilly and others. The motion passed unanimously. The minutes record that the superintendent is authorized to continue negotiations and extensions subject to the $20,000 annual cap and the district will bid if a vendor does not agree to extend under the stated terms.
