The Edmonson County Board of Education on Feb. 10 unanimously approved the district’s Section 7 allocations for 2025–26, designating funds for athletics, band and academic teams across district schools. Allocations listed in the board motion include: Edmonson County High School athletics $32,500; ECHS band $8,500; ECHS academic team $1,700; ECHS competition $500; Edmonson County Middle School athletics and competition $3,500; ECMS academic team $1,700; and 5/6 Center academic & competition $600. The board motion states that these allocations are for travel and program budgets at existing schools. The board recorded a travel reimbursement rule in the motion: travel will be billed at $0.60 per mile and 100% of driver expenses, and the board said it will cover the remaining percentage of travel costs. The motion also states the board will not supplement additional funding unless a team qualifies for a Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) state tournament or the state governor’s cup; it was further noted that allotted Section 7 funds may need adjustment to cover district and regional qualifying expenditures. No dollar figure was given for a contingency or additional supplemental funding.
