Edmonson County board adopts 2025–26 staffing formula, sets student–teacher ratios

The Edmonson County Board of Education on Feb. 10 approved the district’s 2025–26 staffing formula, establishing student–teacher ratios and baseline staff allotments for each school. The vote was unanimous. The staffing plan sets student–teacher ratios of 24:1 at Kyrock Elementary and South Edmonson Elementary, 29:1 at the 5/6 Center, and 31:1 at both Edmonson County Middle School and Edmonson County High School. Minimum school allocations include principals and counselors; high-school allocations list additional positions such as an assistant principal, band and athletic director time and a seven-position vocational program. The plan also requires each school to include at least a 0.5 library media specialist within its teacher allotment and specifies one aide per 24 full-time P1 students. The board noted that Title, grant and exceptional-child positions will be determined by student and school need and budget. The motion allows teachers to be added after the finalized budget if requested through School-Based Decision Making (SBDM). No dollar totals were presented at the meeting.
