Monica Kegerreis, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction for Fairfield Community Schools, told the school board on Aug. 14 that the district’s overall IREAD pass rate was 97.8%, the highest in Elkhart County and the 14th highest among Indiana public school districts. "All means All," Superintendent Dr. Carrie Cannon said in congratulating staff for the results.
The districtwide score included a 98.1% pass rate for English Learner students (the highest in Elkhart County and fourth highest in the state), a 100% pass rate for students receiving free or reduced-price lunches, and an 85.2% pass rate for students receiving special-education services (highest in Elkhart County and 10th highest in the state).
Monica Kegerreis presented the numerical breakdown to the board and Dr. Cannon publicly thanked teachers and administrators, saying the results reflected districtwide efforts. Board President Marilee Keim added, "it's joyful to see the response of the community and pride of everyone involved."
The board did not take formal action on the scores during the meeting; the report was presented as informational recognition of the district’s early-literacy performance heading into the school year.
