At the start of the meeting on May 8 the Fairfield board approved an amendment to the agenda to include a late-arriving consent item for the dismissal of "Employee 2596." The motion to amend the agenda was made by Aaron Rink, seconded by Tyler Rensberger, and passed unanimously. The dismissal of Employee 2596 was then included in the consent items and approved as recorded in the minutes. The board approved other consent items by unanimous motion, including minutes of the April 17 meeting; claims totaling $946,037.46 and payroll claims of $505,039.60; nine professional leave requests; retirements (Richard Erb, Joy VanDiepenbos, Stephanie Conder); resignations (including Leigh Bell and Jennifer Parvu-Timmer); multiple transfers and new employments for summer school and 2025–26 placements; and substitute employments. FMLA requests for three employees were also noted in the consent section. The minutes list a number of employments and summer assignments (teachers, paraprofessionals, summer nurses, bus drivers and credit-recovery teachers) and multiple internal transfers at Millersburg and New Paris elementary schools. The dismissal is recorded in the minutes as "Employee 2596" without a name; the board took formal action as part of the consent agenda. The minutes do not provide additional detail in open session about the reason for the dismissal. Board President Marilee Keim and superintendent Dr. Carrie Cannon offered brief closing comments and appreciations at the meeting’s end; the meeting adjourned at 5:57 p.m.
