Board approves operations contracts, classroom floor purchases and wage/benefit updates

The Fairfield Community Schools board on May 8 approved multiple operations and procurement items including two floor-covering purchases from Yoder Carpets in Elkhart, contracts for food-service consulting and shared dietitian services through NIESC, and updates to the classified wage scale and the district’s 2025 fringe benefit guide. Dr. Brandon Penrod presented the requests. The board authorized purchases of floor covering for select classrooms at Millersburg Elementary‑Middle School for $73,296.00 and for Fairfield Jr‑Sr High School for $73,267.00, both from Yoder Carpets in Elkhart; motions to approve these purchases were passed unanimously. The board also approved the NIESC Food Service Director Consultant Agreement and the NIESC Shared Dietitian Consortium Services Contract; both motions passed unanimously. In addition to contracts and purchases, the board approved an update to the Classified Wage Scale and the 2025 Fringe Benefit Guide after Dr. Penrod’s presentation; both updates were approved by unanimous motion. The packet includes the updated classified wage schedule (substitute and hourly rates) and the fringe benefit guide (eligibility, pay schedule and plan costs) as adopted. These actions were approved as part of the board’s action items and consent agenda; all motions recorded in the minutes passed unanimously. The purchases and contracts will proceed under the vendors and amounts approved at the May 8 meeting.
