The Tomball City Council accepted a proclamation declaring Sept. 14, 2025, as Star‑Spangled Banner Day and heard related public comments and local fundraising news.
Jennifer McStravick of the Captain James Asbury Tate chapter of the National Society United States Daughters of 1812 told the council the chapter had donated 64 copies of the children's book Our Flag Was Still There: The Story of Mary Pickersfield and the Star‑Spangled Banner to area school and city libraries and distributed educational materials to mark the day. The chapter asked the city to recognize the historical observance; Mayor Lori Klein Quinn read a proclamation declaring Sept. 14, 2025, as Star‑Spangled Banner Day.
Separately, Amanda Kelly, market manager for the Tomball Farmers Market, reported the market’s Holiday Heroes dunk tank fundraiser raised $2,800. The community event featured local officials and first responders and was presented as a community fundraising effort to support Holiday Heroes.
These presentations and public comments were received by the council as reports and proclamations; no formal council action beyond accepting the proclamation was taken.
