North Wildwood reassessment plan presented to Cape May County Board of Taxation

Jason Hesley, North Wildwood tax assessor, presented a reassessment plan for the municipality at the Cape May County Board of Taxation meeting on March 11, 2025. Hesley said the last reassessment in North Wildwood occurred in 2016 and the new plan would use BRT software.
Hesley described the estimated cost for the reassessment as approximately $411,000. He said fieldwork will begin this summer with a targeted completion date of January 2027. Hesley said two municipal employees and four additional people will conduct fieldwork, and he plans to complete the commercial fieldwork himself. He reported the current equalization ratio at 55.56% with a coefficient at 16.20% and stated the board that these figures indicate property sales have increased across all classes and that there is a lack of uniformity between assessments.
Hesley told the board a formal order for the reassessment plan will be presented to the board at the May 6, 2025 meeting. No formal vote on the reassessment plan was recorded at the March 11 meeting.
Board members in attendance at the March 11 meeting were John A. McCann, president; Elizabeth A. Barry, vice president; John Snyder, commissioner; and Lu Ann Wowkanech, commissioner.
