She described buying five banners (3-by-5 or similar) at about $200 each and asked for funds to cover supplies and live butterflies. "We would like to ask for $2,000 this year," Laurie said.
Committee members discussed ordering timelines; one participant said banners should be ordered about two to three weeks before the event so they can be up three weeks ahead. Christian, a staff member, said the Butterfly Party is funded out of the broader Bring It/KKB budget and that he would check office records to report how much has already been expended and what remains.
Organizers estimated roughly $500 for supplies and $500 for butterflies, with the five banners representing the additional $1,000 sought. The committee did not take a formal vote and deferred final approval until staff provides a current accounting of the event budget.
