City staff updated the Keep [City] Beautiful Advisory Committee on several facilities and grounds items Sept. 2, saying the city manager approved a pilot wildflower meadow and that plans for relocating the committee’s tool shed remain under consideration.

Christian, a city staff member, told the committee the manager authorized the wildflower meadow project and that staff will mark a limited plot—possibly a 100-by-50-foot or 50-by-50-foot area—rather than converting an entire fence line to meadow. Christian said staff plan to prep the site with low cutting and may add mulch to retain moisture; he offered to meet with committee members to finalize the marked area and preparation plan.

On the tool shed, Christian reported the city manager has not yet decided whether to relocate the committee’s tool shed (and the jointly shared tool-share shed used with the library and planning department) and is “working up a plan.” Committee members requested that the shed remain where it is if possible for convenience but acknowledged the decision is pending the manager’s plan.

Christian also told members that signage for the Bridal Towns area has been reinstalled and that the replacement sign will take the place of an earlier sign where the Family Rock sign sits. Committee members asked staff to arrange installation at the designated corner.

These were informational staff updates; no formal vote was taken on meadow size or shed relocation during the meeting. Christian and committee members agreed to meet to mark and prep the meadow area.
